[Master's Introduction]
Luang Phor Kalong Wat Khaoleam หลวงปู่กาหลง (transliteration)
Luang Phor Kalong was born on Saturday, January 10th , 2461 BE (Buddhist Era). He was born with a unique feature: a large, translucent, glass-like tooth on his upper palate that could extend and retract freely. From a young age, he showed great interest in magic. At the age of 20 , he decided to become a monk. After ordination, he studied under Luang Phor Nian of Wat Napong (a fellow monk of Luang Phor Suk of Wat Maukhamtau), and later continued his studies under Luang Phor Suk's disciples.
Luang Phor Kalong was renowned for his magical abilities, including attracting wealth, warding off disasters, protecting from danger, and prolonging life—all widely recognized by his followers. He achieved great success through the practice of the Phra Na Rai protective deity, becoming a famous monk in modern times. In the current world of amulets, if someone asks which master is the most powerful, many in the field will say Luang Phor Kalong of Wat Khao Leen.
In 2549 and 2550 BE, the amulets he blessed, particularly those featuring the Kathok Kham deity, were renowned and highly efficacious. Around the same time, other sacred objects made by this revered monk also gained fame. Furthermore, many amulet collectors believe that Luang Phor Kalong was a highly powerful monk, as his protruding teeth were located in the same spot as Hanuman's ( the monkey god's ) protruding teeth. This is seen as a reason why the monk was believed to possess innate divine power.
The amulets made by the revered monk are made in the same way as those made by other revered monks in the past. The funds raised from the amulets made by Luang Phor Kalong enabled him to build seven temples. And almost everyone believes that the monk's amulets are indispensable sacred objects.
The amulets created by revered monks require a very long period of time, until the monks believe that the amulets contain sufficient divine power. Therefore, the shortest time for a revered monk to bless an amulet is one season, and the longest is one year. As a result, everyone believes that the amulets created by revered monks are very effective, and there is no need to worry about them being ineffective.
The book recounts a true story about the revered monk Luang Phor Kalong … He once visited a 120- year-old Cambodian monk in Sisaket province . That evening, to test Luang Phor Kalong's magical powers, the old monk cast a spell on a bundle of wood, transforming it into thousands of centipedes that threatened to harm him. Upon discovering this, Luang Phor Kalong quickly placed his own amulets in front of him and entered into meditation. Surprisingly, the centipedes transformed from the wood dared not approach his room and subsequently reverted to a bundle of wood. This greatly impressed the elderly Cambodian monk, who recognized Luang Phor Kalong as a master of extremely high spiritual attainment.
