Somdet Phra Naresuan Maharat of the Ayutthaya dynasty is the founder of the "Enamel Khun Paen Amulet" made in 2135 BE (1592 AD).

The reason for its construction is that after King Naresuan defeated King Phra Maha Uparat of Burma on an elephant, he built a large stupa at Wat Pa Kaeo as a memorial to the Buddha and to commemorate the victory.

Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Phitsanulok Province (Thai: พิษณุโลก; English: Phitsanulok), a major province in the southern part of northern Thailand.
