The Legend of Zedojin

There is no record of Zedujin in Buddhist scriptures or ancient Indian historical records. For this reason, many scholars doubt the origin of this deity, and some even believe that the name was created by humans or fabricated out of thin air. However, there is another theory about the origin of Chatukan. Legend has it that Chatukan is actually an incarnation of Vishnu, one of the three main gods of Hinduism. He is a guardian god who can protect all things in the world, including people. Anyone who makes offerings to and worships him can receive his protection. Some say that Zedujin, also known as the " Black Dragon King of the South China Sea , " is one of the guardians of Guanyin of the South China Sea. In the eyes of Thais, Jatukam Ramathep is even hailed as a " safety airbag " that can help avoid danger and ensure safety .

Actually, the earliest record of Jatukam Ramathep in Thailand should come from Nakhon Si Thammara Province, which Thais usually call Nakhon, while the Chinese call it Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. At that time, people found a temple stele under the stupa in the temple. According to the inscription on the stele, the temple was built by maritime merchants. However, there is also a legend that it was built by two princes during the Srivichai dynasty. It is said that Jatukam Ramathep was the joint name of two princes of the Srivichai dynasty , the elder prince Jatukam and the younger prince Ramathep . The two princes possessed immeasurable merit because they unwaveringly protected the Buddha's relics.

It is said that in the Buddhist Era 743 during the reign of the Satchai dynasty, about 1,300 years ago, there was a country in southern Thailand called " Danpon Ling " . At that time, a great plague broke out in the city, killing many people and leaving only a few hundred survivors. At that time, a king, having suffered a defeat in India, fled in several sailing ships. When they drifted to a beach called Saicho in Tanjung Ling, they were forced to come ashore and anchor due to a big storm. The name of this fleeing king was " Pai Chao Si Tan Ma Su Korat " or " Ceng Tara Banu " .

After staying for a few days, the king inspected the environment and geography of the province and found it very appealing. He decided to make it his kingdom, naming it " Wan Na Phung , " meaning " Golden Kingdom . " The king allowed the people and soldiers from the ship to reside there and trained his two princes in military strategy. Subsequently, the king led his two princes and soldiers to occupy another province where they had stayed for several days, naming it " Su," and trained twenty-two smaller kingdoms, naming them after the twelve zodiac animals: 1. Saiburi Province (Rat) ; 2 . Peking University (Ox) ; 3 . 4. Kettan (Tiger) ; 5. Pahang (Rabbit) ; 6. Kedah (Dragon) ; 7. Petalingah (Snake) ; 8 . 8. Delang Prefecture (Horse) ; 9. Cunfeng Prefecture (Sheep) ; 10. Chaya Prefecture (Monkey) ; 11. Shaulao Prefecture (Chicken) ; 12. Deguaba Prefecture (Dog) ; Khabuli Province (Pig)

After several years of conquest, the king felt that his two princes were mature enough to rule these countries, so he handed over the reins, appointed the two princes as kings, and led his soldiers to attack India again, never to return to Suwannapeng. Since the two princes ascended the throne, they have managed state affairs with great efficiency and efficiency, and the people have lived in peace and prosperity. The two princes even personally toured the country to relieve the people's hardships, earning them deep affection from the people. At that time, their father had also won a war in India and sent 15,000 subjects to live in the Golden Kingdom, most of whom were Buddhists. Because the king was deeply influenced by his Buddhist beliefs, he thought that if he could invite the Buddha's relics to the Golden Kingdom, it would surely ensure the well-being of all his people.

So he went to the Indian capital to consult with the Shakyamuni Sangha, and finally obtained a portion of the relics. The Indian prince and princess at the time personally took the relics by boat to the Golden Kingdom. When the relics arrived in the Golden Land, the entire nation rejoiced and respectfully welcomed the Buddha's treasure. Afterwards, everyone discussed how to enshrine the relics for a long time, and the two princes proposed to build a stupa for the relics. After gaining the support of the entire nation, people across the country contributed money and effort. Several years later, the stupa was finally completed. Finally, an auspicious time and day were chosen, and the Indian prince and princess personally enshrined the Buddha's relics on the throne. The walls were then sealed off for the public to worship. After several decades, both princes passed away. To commemorate these two benevolent princes, people suggested casting portraits of the two princes on each side of the steps leading up to the stupa.

He respectfully addressed his elder brother, who was on his right, as " Chadukan " and his younger brother, who was on his left, as " Lamathe " . Over time, it has become known as " Chadukanlama Tie " .
