Origin of Medicine Buddha
Pai Jin is derived from the Medicine Buddha of Northern Buddhism in China. As early as more than a thousand years ago, during the Tang Dynasty, Buddhist monks from Northern Buddhism supervised the manufacture of the Medicine Bell Buddha. Later, a small number of Medicine Buddhas were brought to Thailand by merchants who initially sailed from China to Thailand to do business. Some believers saw the exquisite craftsmanship of the Medicine Buddha, so they gave one to the then monk emperor Shunde Baowalie. In the year 2417 of the Buddhist calendar, Shunde Baowa Lie began to supervise the creation of the Medicine Buddha, and thus became the first monk to supervise the creation of the Medicine Buddha in the history of Thai Buddhism.
At that time, Shunde spent a total of nine years casting the Medicine Buddha (2417-2425 of the Buddhist calendar), but due to the constraints of the time, the total number of medicine Buddhas produced did not exceed thirty. In the year 2430 of the Buddhist calendar, Shankarepei just took over. Not long after the abbot of Sutha Temple, his ordination teacher Shunde Ling was ill and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. When Shankarepei went to the hospital to visit his master, he learned that the eighth monk of Yuebowang, Baowalie, was cast by the emperor at that time. A pharmacist amulet. Shan Jia Jia Lappei got a Buddha statue and rushed to the hospital immediately, poured a glass of boiled water, put the small Buddha statue in the boiled water, and told Master to drink the glass of water. Unexpectedly, the next morning, Master Shunde Ling actually recovered. For a while, doctors and nurses were puzzled. At that time, the statues of Medicine Buddha were generally enshrined in temples for good believers to worship and pray.
But for those who often go out to do business, they often encounter accidents or contract diseases when they go out to make a living. Without the protection of gods, they cannot solve disasters. Under this circumstance, the statues of Medicine Buddha, which are easier to wear around, began to appear in large numbers. The Falling Lion Buddha, also known as "Ring Buddha" or "Ling Buddha" in Thailand, has a bead hidden inside the Buddha statue that makes a sound when shaken.
There are two versions of the saying about ringtones. According to ancient Chinese legends, when the bell rings, there will be danger, and the bodhisattva of heaven will come to relieve the misfortune. The monks in Thailand believe that the beads in the bell Buddha are the meaning of perfection, and the bell Buddha is the supreme sacred object. Wearing the bell Buddha can bring good health, cure diseases and relieve misfortunes, and can also purify evil karma obstacles. The bell also represents a loud reputation, and those who are mindful can have greater blessings when they wear it.
