[Master's Introduction]
Luang Phor Kasem was born on Wednesday, November 28, 1912 (Buddhist Era 2455). At the age of 13, after graduating from primary school in 2466 (Buddhist Era 2466), he was sent to become a novice monk, where he was responsible for chanting sutras before the coffins of the deceased. Even after disrobing, he never abandoned Buddhism. In 2474 (Buddhist Era 2474), at the age of 21, he obtained qualifications equivalent to a master's degree from a Buddhist academy. That same year, he also qualified to become a full-fledged monk, and thus underwent ordination, beginning his formal monastic life. After becoming a monk, he continuously studied Pali and Buddhist scriptures, and gradually sought instruction from masters at various temples. In 2479 (Buddhist Era 2479), at the age of 26, Luang Phor Kasem obtained a certificate from the highest Buddhist scripture research institute, and became fluent in Pali, able to speak, read, write, and even translate. Later, hearing that Kruba of Wat Patuk Phong was famous for his meditation and spiritual practices, he went to the temple to study under him. The master often took him to mountainous areas and even cemeteries to meditate and practice. He also got used to eating the food offered by believers, whether it was salty or sweet, regardless of the taste, mixed together in his bowl. Luang Phor Kasem found this very comfortable and easy. Unlike others, he ate only one meal a day and had extraordinary endurance in his practice, meditating all day long from morning until 11 pm.
Besides being a kind and honest monk who loved the people, Luang Phor Kasem also had many wonderful stories in his monastic life that have been passed down to future generations. Luang Phor Kasem passed away in 2539 BE at the age of 84.
Luang Phor Kasem's amulets are highly regarded in Thailand. Throughout his life, he created amulets featuring Somdej, Seven-Headed Naga Buddha, Chakri, Phra Pidta, Rama V, Phra Phrom, Rahu, and other deities. His self-portraits and Phra Kring are among his most sought-after amulets. Numerous stories of people surviving near-death experiences while wearing his amulets have been published in Thai newspapers and magazines.
