Thursday Meditation on Buddha
Thai: Paang Nung Samadhi
Representative color: Orange
Meditation posture. Positioned at either end of a lotus flower, hands resting on the knees, right hand on top of the left, fingers fully extended, palms facing upwards. Meditation practitioners believe this posture allows energy to flow from the top of the head through the open palms. According to Thai astrology, people born on this day are suited to be teachers, lawyers, or judges.
Also known as Parng Samadhi. The Buddha's meditation posture is the most typical yoga posture: sitting cross-legged with legs crossed, right foot over left; soles of both feet facing upwards. Hands are placed on the lap, right palm over left, palms facing upwards. It is said to be the most perfect meditation posture, leading to a state of peaceful contemplation. The energy of heaven and earth enters the body simultaneously through the crown of the head and the upward-facing limbs. Yoga is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word YOGA, which can represent a method of spiritual practice. Through controlling and utilizing our body and mind, we develop intuitive abilities to achieve the ideal of liberation or Buddhahood.
