The meaning and taboo of wearing amulets

Feat Kapo Jiabao

The amulet comes from small ornaments made by Thai monks and enshrined in Buddhist temples🙏🏻. The purpose is to hope that in the future, when Buddhist temples or Buddhist culture are persecuted, they can also pass on Buddhist culture through amulets. To remind the world of the splendor and splendor of Buddhist culture and to bless the good faith.

Thai people believe that the Buddha blesses those who make sacrifices for others. Amulet is a Buddha statue reduced into a pendant, which is convenient for people to carry day and night, and the carrier hopes to protect himself with this.

With the passage of time, the amulet is no longer just a sacred object for spreading Buddhism. Instead, it gradually evolved into a jewelry that helps the wearer's luck. It is hoped that those who wear amulets can improve their marriage, positive fortune, health, etc. People believe that the power of the amulet comes from the power of scriptures and the thought power of eminent monks. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thailand is a country that believes in Theravada Buddhism. Many Thai people who are Gaoji or Baiyi have traveled to nearby countries to practice and learn different methods. But for those who don't know Theravada Buddhism, they will think that Thai Buddhism is a strange power, or has something to do with sorcery. But in fact, it is a mixture of different knowledge, which is the essence of culture❗️It is recommended to learn more about the background of the sacred object and the master when offering sacred objects, and fully understand the Theravada Buddhist culture❣️

The taboos of Thai amulets are mainly divided into two categories: "true" and "yin". The following are the "true taboos" for wearing amulets :

The first time you wear an amulet, please put the amulet in the palm of your hand and hold it between your forehead and your eyebrows🙏🏻, sincerely recite the Buddha's first sutra, then introduce yourself in your heart, and wear it after making a wish.

Buddha's first sutra: Nanmoda Sapakawado Allahadosama Sapudasa (repeated three times, commonly used for various amulet sacred objects)

2. Keep the five precepts: don't kill, don't drink too much, don't gossip, don't destroy other people's feelings, and respect elders.

3. Do not spit into the toilet.

4. The amulet cannot be placed on the ground, pointed with your feet, and never stepped on or stepped over the amulet.

5. Girls can still wear the amulet as usual, but remember to wash their hands before touching the amulet.

6. Try not to wear it in pornographic places, nightclubs, drinking orgy, etc.

7. The amulet of gods and Buddhas should be worn on the neck or above the waist.

8. It's okay to admire and touch it for friends, but please try to pay attention to whether the other person's hands are clean.

9. If the amulet is unfortunately damaged, it cannot be worn again. (If only the casing is damaged, it can be replaced). You can pack it with a small red cloth or a bonus bag and send it to a monastery or put it under a big tree. Don't throw it away directly, and don't throw it into the trash can.

10. During intercourse. Please put the amulet in the drawer or cover it with a cloth, so as not to disrespect the gods. Bathing, swimming, sleeping should also be removed.

11. When wearing the real amulet, the negative amulet cannot be worn at the same time, and the "true" and "negative" amulet cannot be placed together.

12. When the amulet is not usually carried, you can find a clean place to place it, and do not place it in a place that moves frequently.

13. Multiple amulets can be worn at the same time, as long as they are beautiful and balanced.

14. If the wish is successful, remember to return it to the gods, so that you can continue to receive the blessings of gods and Buddhas, and your life will be happier and more fulfilling.

Finally, I quoted Master Luang Po Guan's teaching, "Some people say that I am good, and some people say that I am not good, so you don't have to worry about whether it is good or bad, it is enough to have a clear conscience."🙏🏻
